We minister to the women...

Letter from Jean Parrish, Board President;

Wings of Hope Prison Ministry has recently undergone some significant changes we would like to let you, our supporters, know about.

September 1st Tomra (Tomi) Cardin became our new Executive Director. She comes to our ministry home with much expertise in the area of prison ministry. She has been a chaplain at the Allen County jail for nea
y 8 years. She ministers weekly to the incarcerated through Bible Studies, Substance Abuse and Recovery Classes and the Fatherhood Engagement Program. Tomi has worked with many faith based organizations in our community, such as Associated Churches, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Faith Based Mentoring Ministries and the Fort Wayne Fatherhood Coalition. She currently serves on the boards of Faith Based Mentoring Ministries, the Fort Wayne Fatherhood Coalition and the Sheriff’s Chaplaincy Conference. She is excited and extremely motivated to take our ministry to the next level!

The other news is Wings of Hope is now Redemption House Ministries. We received letters from a Missouri attorney on two different occasions informing us that the name Wings of Hope has been trademarked by another organization and we were infringing on said trademark.

Although the name has changed we are still a Christ centered program with the same mission. Redemption House allows previously incarcerated women a chance to live in a Christian, disciplined home environment for at least six months. Our program continues with the purpose to teach and model life following Christ and Biblical principles through Bible Study, Christian fellowship, accountability, and substance abuse counseling among other things. We also strive to help our residents develop life and job skills through in house training and outside sources.

The house at 2720 Fairfield Avenue is undergoing a major facelift of painting, new furniture and other remodeling, all of which is being donated by generous ministry supporters. We will be hosting an Open House this coming holiday season.

The board and new staff are very excited about the future of Redemption House and the potential impact in our community as women’s lives are changed. As is common with ministries, we have experienced a challenging summer financially and could use extra financial support at this time. We hope you will join us in this excitement and we can count on your support with prayer, financial giving, clothing or household donations, recovery Bibles or your time. It takes all of these resources to run a house 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

God’s Blessings to all from the Redemption House board!
